When Marco Polo called Suzhou the “Oriental Venice”, this water town in Southern China must had reminded him of his faraway home. 25 minutes away from Shanghai by bullet train, Suzhou is one of China’s cultural center for thousands of years where hundreds of rivers, boats and bridges decorate her. Since year 514 BC, Suzhou has became one of the major cities in China and also capital of the Wu Kingdom. Many of China’s best artists, politicians, writers and poets in history were born in Suzhou, including Yin Tang(Tang Bohu), Yanwu Gu, and Xiaotong Fei. Two Noble Price winners, Tsung-Dao (T. D.) The elegant, natural and artistic lifestyle of Suzhou is well demonstrated in the classical gardens, a world cultural heritage recognized by the UNESCO.
