China’s Most Fascinating Lakes   

China is a place with one of the most diverse nature. It is absolutely true that this is a country of unbelievable landscapes and views! Except for thousand-year mountains, lakes of China are the dream for any traveller!

Qinghai Lake 青海湖

Qinghai Lake is the largest lake in China. On this lake you can find pieces of all climates in the world - there are mountains with snowy peaks in one place, desert in another place and grassland in another one! Bicycle competitions are held here annually when sportsmen need to cycle around the whole lake. You can also repeat their route by cycling around the lake!

Chaka Salt Lake茶卡盐湖

This miracle’s name means "salt lake" in Tibetan language. Mirror-like water of the lake is totally breathtaking! Wear colourful clothes to take unbelievable pictures.

Hangzhou West Lake杭州西湖

Also known as Xihu, the lake is located in the city center of Hangzhou. Throughout the history, the best Chinese poets devoted their poems to lake’s picturesque scenery. Since 2011 West Lake was included in UNESCO World Heritage List. Location: Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province

Dianchi Lake 滇池湖

Dianchi Lake is a large lake located in the center of Kunming City - provincial capital of Yunnan. Every winter Dianchi lake becomes home for thousands of sea-gulls coming from Russian Siberia and Far East.

Changbai Mountain Pool in the Sky长白山天池

Located at the border between China and North Korea, this lake got its name because of the high altitude - about 2,150 meters above sea-level. Before it was an active volcano, now covered with snow all the seasons of the year.

Kanas Lake 喀纳斯湖

5A-level tourist attraction, Kanas Lake is a national geopark. In Mongolian “Kanas” means “beautiful and mysterious lake”. It also played a role in history being Genghis Khan's Western Military Expedition Site.

Thousand Island Lake千岛湖

Qiandaohu, or Thousand Island Lake is China's largest artificial lake, built in 1959. In total there are 1,078 islands on the lake!
